As we leave the carefree days of summer behind and gather our back-to-school supplies, the start of the school year is anticipated with excitement and potential.
But thoughts of new routines, classmates and teachers can also leave kids feeling pressure and anxiety. That’s where incorporating essential oils into their school-day routine can help ensure happy transitions and support them in managing day-to-day challenges throughout the school year.
Below is my list of favorite essential oils for balance, calming and focus; before, during and after a busy school day. Diffuse or apply topically to pulse points, bottoms of feet or back of the neck.
Good Morning! Peppermint & Wild Orange is a great blend to wake sleepy heads. Together these oils are refreshing and invigorating. Prepare this blend in a roller bottle with a carrier oil (e.g. coconut or grapeseed) for a pick-me-up during the school day.
Balance™ is a blend of lavender, sweet marjoram, Roman chamomile, ylang ylang, sandalwood and vanilla. Begin the day with this sweet, warm and comforting blend to promote a grounded feeling.
Focus and Concentration: In-Tune ® is a blend of patchouli, amyris, frankincense, lime, Roman chamomile, ylang ylang and sandalwood. Apply this blend any time to help with tasks that require concentration.
Rosemary, Peppermint & Frankincense not only smell amazing together but can evoke a sense of both calm and stimulation during study time.
Restful Nights – Lavender is likely the most widely used essential oil because of its numerous beneficial properties. End the day by placing several drops in a warm bath, diffuser and/or massage the bottoms of feet to promote calm and sooth away stress in preparation for a great night’s sleep.•
